To the Ladies of the Women's Network of Northeast Ohio,

Let me introduce myself. My name is Krisztina Olah. I spent 2.5 years in Cleveland as a master student in communications at the John Carroll University. I returned to my home country, Hungary two months ago where I support and coordinate a project in Akron, Ohio.

At The University of Akron's Department of Chemical Engineering  works a Hungarian professor, Dr.  Judit Puskas who is also a member in your organization. She has a research which aims to develop a special, more effective solution for breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. Professor Puskas got several international awards and prizes, among them the GE Healthymagination Award in 2012 where she was chosen from 500 applicants worldwide.

The Carole and Robin Reid Foundation was created with the goal to raise awareness of residents in Northeast Ohio toward the health problem and its potential solution with the research mentioned above. The Foundation welcomes supporters who want to contribute to the success of this local research.

You could find more information about the Foundation, the research, and the fundraising campaign on the links below. You could also find here a 3-4 minutes video showing the leaders of the Foundation, Professor Puskas and her lab team etc.

If you agree with our goals and you are ready to be part of the story, please, share this information with your members and  friends. Any amount (even $10 or $20) could help us to reach the goals together.

    Kind regards,

    Krisztina Olah

Please read the attached letter and let me know if you can donate anything (perhaps a white elephant Christmas gift that you can't use) to Zonta's auction which will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 during a brunch at Akron Fairlawn Country Club.  It's a nice event and we'd love to have you come for lunch too!
The recipient charities of our fundraiser this year are: the Haven of Rest (homeless women and children) for prescription drugs, the Verna Truschel Scholarship Program at the University of Akron for displaced homemakers, the Medina and Summit Counties Battered Women Shelters to replace lost or destroyed identification, and Zonta International to support international programs aimed primarily at ending violence against women and improving their economic status.
We have chosen to help as many women's groups as we possibly can this year but we can't do it without your help.  Won't you please look in your closets and in your hearts?  I'm sure you can find something there to contribute.
    With my sincerest heartfelt thanks,
    Alanna S. Arnold
    Attorney at Law
    Trustee Medina HANDS Foundation, 2012-2018
Zonta International Area 3 Director, 2010-2012

Friendships that developed among members of Women's Network helped six local women start a groundbreaking Women's Endowment Fund nearly two decades ago.

Through contributions and wise investing, that fund grew to more than $1 million and awarded more than $500,000 in grants -- grants that have inspired, empowered and educated women and girls throughout Akron and Summit County. The group also funded research on women and girls and hosts a bi-annual forum to help define grant-making priorities.

    For Women, Forever

In 2012, the fund, a part of Akron Community Foundation, embarked on "For Women, Forever," an ambitious campaign to grow the endowment by $2.013 million by 2013 â€“ the fund's 20th anniversary. Women from all over greater Akron have held fundraisers for the Women's Endowment Fund -- Zumba events and cocktail parties, musical theater performances and wine tastings. Women and men and companies and foundations have begun to open their hearts with gifts and pledges to WEF to ensure a brighter future for women and girls.

Some, like attorney Karen Lefton and former municipal official Kathy Booth, have begun their own charitable funds under the Women's Endowment umbrella, and have engaged their mothers, daughters and other loved ones in improving life for greater Akron's women and girls.

See some of the stories of those we've helped and some of the grants the fund has made. And consider making an online gift. Your generosity will live on, as this endowment fund supports programs for women and girls long into the future.

Women's Network has been helping women in NE Ohio since the late '70s. This, of course means that as we are aging, we are also losing some great women who have shown us how to lead and mentor other women to success.
This week, we lost Kathryn Hunter, mother of Ann Durr and winner of the 1993 Founders Award.
Join us in our condolences to Ann and family and rejoice in the wonderful life and inspiration Kathryn was to so many women.
